Once a diagnosis is made it will be discussed with you and if osteopathy is appropriate, treatment will be offered aimed at restoring normal joint stability and function.
Osteopaths usually start each treatment by releasing and relaxing muscles and stretching still joints using gentle massage techniques, rhythmic joint movements and muscle release and may also carry out manipulation using short quick movements to spinal joints. Other techniques maybe used depending on the patient’s problem.
Treatments usually last up to half an hour and normally between two and six treatments are required. However many patients opt for a periodic preventative treatment to avoid recurring problems.
What Our Clients Say
I first met Suzette Pulman at Lymm Osteopathic Practice 4 years ago when I sustained a knee injury. She was able to provide emergency treatment and gave me guidance on how to obtain a referral from my GP for health insurance purposes. The series of treatments I received as a result resolved the problem and Suzette provided practical advice on how I could avoid further injury in the future.
Since then I visit Lymm Osteopathic Practice approximately twice a year for posture related issues (the perils of an office based profession), the infrequency of these visits is down to her hard work and the prevention techniques she has given to me. I always leave the practice after an appointment literally walking on air.
I would highly recommend Suzette and her colleagues at Lymm Osteopathic Practice. Don’t suffer in silence, make an appointment today – you’ll be glad you did!
I recently injured by shoulder, and was in pain and unable to fully engage in sport or even normal day-to-day activities such as lifting for about four weeks before a friend of mine recommended I contact Suzette.
It was my first appointment with an osteopath and I had no idea what to expect. Having heard horror stories about so called similar ‘professionals’ I was also slightly concerned that I might leave the appointment with an even worse injury. What I actually received was a genuinely holistic service, with a full consultation about my lifestyle, previous injuries, etc. and some tips on how to stay healthy, as well as a full physical examination. This was followed by some treatment, particularly around my shoulder and neck, which I initially found daunting until Suzette explained clearly and concisely what she would be doing and put me at ease. Finally, I was given some exercises to do in order to help prevent recurrence of such an injury.
I left the appointment pain free for the first time in four weeks, with a greater understanding of why the injury had occurred and the ability to help prevent it happening again. Since then I have been taking the advice Suzette offered me, and doing the exercises I was given, and remain pain free.
I very highly recommend Suzette as an Osteopath. She is knowledgeable, extremely competent and, overall, extremely professional.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how fantastic I think Suzette is, for the past 10 years my father-in-law has been experiencing daily pain from his knees and I have felt pretty helpless, after numerous visits to his doctors and group physio sessions which he found uncomfortable and not very helpful he was beginning to resign himself that this is as good as it gets for his knees, but I was fortunate to meet Suzette and she explained that she has worked with sufferers of arthritis before and there may be something she could do, so I booked him in, and he was most impressed as not only did Suzette relieve some of his discomfort but she put him at ease and he really felt that he had learned something. He has booked again for more treatment and can not speak highly enough of Suzette and the work she does at Lymm Osteopath.
I would be more than happy to discuss this testimony in more detail if you are in about to how good Suzette is.
Its not often that a BNI testimonial can confidently say that the service offered improved the quality of life of the individual. As a chimney sweep I am conscious of the necessity to take care of my body to be able to competently make some ones chimney safe. My concern was raised after losing feeling in three fingers and having significant strength loss in one hand. After seeing my doctor he diagnosed a trapped nerve in my elbow and gave me some advice on how to reduce the symptoms. There was limited improvement and having met Suzette Pulman and having used an osteopath before I asked her advice.
Suzette completed a full review and history of my heath identified that the issue was in my neck and that a 23 year old injury on my scalp was most likely the root cause.
After two sessions of massage and manipulation dealing with the cause of the problem I have full feeling in all of my fingers, the strength in my hand has significantly improved and the mobility of my shoulder of which I didn’t know was restricted has noticeably improved resolving 12 months of discomfort and pain.
I will not only be happy to refer people to Suzette but will actively seek new clients for her as I can say she has improved the quality of my life.
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the fact that you made no charge for my visit on Monday. It is great that the spirit of the professionalism still lives on – the client’s interests being put before the professional’s desire to make a living. We hear so much these days about deceitful bankers and other business folk whose only interest is to maximise profits regardless of the consequences so it is particularly refreshing to find that this is not the norm.
I must admit that I did have some qualms about my hamstring problems and wondered if perhaps I had a serious medical ailment but your treatment did the trick and I feel that I am now back in the condition I was prior to the ‘attack’.
Very many thanks for all your help.
